11.29.14 … I am blessed ..,

“Solvitur Ambulando” – It is solved by walking, 2014 Labyrinth Walks, Church of the Epiphany Louisville KY, kith/kin:

So I am blessed. I have a friend that loves to meet me for coffee, walk a labyrinth and then come back and talk for several more hours while we fix brunch with John’s extended family.

It was cool and blustery, but still delightful to share this sacred space and sacred time with a special friend.

Hope your Thanksgiving continues to be joyous.

11.27.14 … “ all on the white man’s side, consequently on the Lord’s side; hence it was proper to thank the Lord for it and extend the usual annual compliments” …

“Solvitur Ambulando” – It is solved by walking, 2014 Labyrinth Walks, Louisville Presbyterian Seminary Louisville KY, kith/kin:

It was cold and blustery, 33°, with a hint of snow still on the ground. I walked this wonderful grass labyrinth at the seminary while using the last line of their informational marker as my mantra:

“May the experience of walking this sacred and powerful tool bring you a greater sense of Shalom and Oneness.”

And to contrast this thought of Shalom and Oneness … this from the acerbic Twain:

“Thanksgiving Day, a function which originated in New England two or three centuries ago when those people recognized that they really had something to be thankful for — annually, not oftener — if they had succeeded in exterminating their neighbors, the Indians, during the previous twelve months instead of getting exterminated by their neighbors, the Indians. Thanksgiving Day became a habit, for the reason that in the course of time, as the years drifted on, it was perceived that the exterminating had ceased to be mutual and was all on the white man’s side, consequently on the Lord’s side; hence it was proper to thank the Lord for it and extend the usual annual compliments.” – Autobiography of Mark Twain, Volume 1

That’s something to ponder.

And one of my favorites from this Thanksgiving was the Facebook post from my 20 year old daughter who is in France for the semester …

Happy Thanksgiving!

11.5.14 … perspective … “Joy is not in things. It is in us.” – Richard Wagner

“Solvitur Ambulando” – It is solved by walking, 2014 Labyrinth Walks, Avondale Presbyterian Church – Charlotte NC:

My first walk in a while. Walking the original Chartres changes your perspective. I’ll have to think about that one.
