4.27.12 … Birds singing and flying. Lots of birds … redbirds and brown birds. A squirrel sitting up and watching us. Bugs (the biting kind) and worms.

“Solvitur Ambulando” – It is solved by walking.

Walking with Mary.

Beautiful day … Gloriously beautiful.

Birds singing and flying. Lots of birds … redbirds and brown birds. A squirrel sitting up and watching us. Bugs (the biting kind) and worms.

Lovely private labyrinth.

A great walk followed by a birthday lunch with Mary in Matthews followed by a quick visit to Renfrow’s Hardware. Loved Toni Branner’s Tower Garden!

4.21.12 … “Brother Lawrence … once taught that it is a great delusion to think that time set aside for prayer should be different from other times. … He lived into one of my favorite Hebrew words- avodah- a word that means both work and worship. It is used interchangeably and in a way that is how we are to understand our charge as Christian people.”

“Solvitur Ambulando” – It is solved by walking.

Sunny and warm! Let’s hope the weather for Molly’s prom tonight.

Read today from another of Katie’s old sermons … I was just thinking about Brother Lawrence last Monday …

“Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection, a monk who lived in the 1600’s, once taught that it is a great delusion to think that time set aside for prayer should be different from other times. We are, he believed, equally obliged to be united to God by work in the time assigned to work as by prayer during prayer time. As such, everything he did, be it picking a flower or doing the dishes or writing a letter, he did in prayer and with great intention that through such seemingly menial acts God would be glorified. He lived into one of my favorite Hebrew words- avodah- a word that means both work and worship. It is used interchangeably and in a way that is how we are to understand our charge as Christian people. That is the deeper message of the proverb. If God is going out with you into the world, than the world is the sanctuary in which you worship. You are saints in God’s marketplace. And there is no word that you speak, no deed that you do that is not then called to be an act of praise.”

4.14.12 … “God’s will will not lead you where God’s grace does not follow. “

“Solvitur Ambulando” – It is solved by walking.

At conference feeling nourished.

Prayer with prople on perimerimer of labyrinth. Chimes in wind. Blessing with chimes. Go in at your on pace, one by one. Like a dance. Community. Really an amazing experience. Did not think possible in such a large group.

“God’s will will not lead you where God’s grace does not follow. ”

4.12.12 … “ “The persistent call to all of us is to drop the charade of self-sufficiency, to acknowledge how much our ego co-opts even the best of our behaviors and intentions and admit our deep, honest need so that, by God’s lavish goodness, we can stop harming ourselves and others and get on, by grace, with the work of the kingdom in joy together.

Cold wind! Bright sun. Groundskeeper blowing clippings.

Thought for the day … I walk in my shadow … the shadow of my own death.

Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

New Living Translation

My new toy! I realize you probably think I am crazy but this labyrinth is fun.

4.9.12 … “A spacious and undefended heart finds room for everything you are and carves space for everybody else.” … I think I have a new addiction …

“Solvitur Ambulando” – It is solved by walking, 2012 Labyrinth Walks, Sardis Baptist Church-Charlotte NC:

Back on the trail. I think I have a new addiction.

I have decided to continue walking when I can and using CS Lewis’s Devotional as well as my church’s sermon library as my resource.

Today I picked a Wednesday Lunch Sermon on Katie Crowe and it was right on point!

“mythic membership”…child of God…”Poet Galway Kinnell writes, ‘Sometimes it’s necessary to reteach a thing its loveliness.’ And when that happens, we begin to foster tenderness for our own human predicament. A spacious and undefended heart finds room for everything you are and carves space for everybody else.'”
